#StackBounty: #crash #reinstall #gnome-control-center Problems reinstalling MySQL

Bounty: 50

I tried to reinstall MySQL but I was having problems. Initially I tried to solve the problem by reinstalling GNOME control center, but this didn’t work and I am still experiencing problems trying to reinstall MySQL.

I’m unable to reinstall Gnome Control Center by running the following command on the terminal:

sudo apt-get install --reinstall gnome-control-center

I’m getting the following output on the Terminal:

And as soon as this happens, I check if the backside is overheated. I find it quite normal. Is it a battery issue? How should I go about it? I use Archlinux.

#StackBounty: #typescript #compiler-errors #crash #tsc #react-hook-form How to find the cause for an undescriptive TypeScript compiler …

Bounty: 200

I get a strange compiler error. It states: RangeError: Value undefined out of range for undefined options property undefined.

My feeling so far is, that the compiler runs internally into a loop and fills up a Map until it is full. My best guess is, that this is connected to some faulty type declaration in our own code base.

My problem is, that the compiler is not telling which part of my code base is the issue for this problem and happened after a package update. So I don’t see any hint which specific part of our code base is the root cause for this. How can I convince TypeScript to tell me this?

The whole stack trace looks like this:

$ yarn tsc
yarn run v1.22.4
$ /myProject/app/node_modules/.bin/tsc

Background

This happened after I upgraded react-hook-form from version 6 to 7, with no other changes to the code base.

I tried already the following (all with the same outcome):

  • Updating TypeScript to the newest 4.3.X version
  • Updating to react-hook-form 7.0.0 (instead of the latest)
  • It is reproducible on another machine
  • Deleted node_modules
  • Run tsc -b --verbose

Side notes

  • The compiling takes long and eats a lot of memory before that error message appears.
  • When I start the project in dev mode, it is actually starting and showing the website for a moment, but then switches to that same error message.

#StackBounty: #linux #ubuntu #installation #crash Ubuntu setup crashes and random points during and before setup

Bounty: 100

I bought a brand new ThinkCentre M920x Tiny (which is a mini computer) and wanted to install Ubuntu on it.
I flahed a USB stick useing Etcher on my Windowas 10 machine.

Then I started the setup on my new ThinkCenter.
Then at random points during my the setup most of the time after selecting "Ubuntu" from the grub menu.
Sometimes I can made it to selecting the keyboard layout. But the install process never starts.

The "crash" usualy looks like this.
Keyboard an mouse freeze, fan of the computer turns on and after about 3 seconds it just reboots.

I started with the usual things:

  1. Using another memory stick, using yet another memory stick
  2. Disabled UEFI, Enables Legacy BIOS
  3. Disabled Secureboot
  4. Tried the Dayli build from Ubuntu 21.04
  5. Tried to disable logging using pci=noaer in grub (why ubuntu 18.04LTS installer crashes after detecting hardware)
  6. Did a hardwaretest (memtest)

And all this in various combinations.

Now I am done with my knowldege and have to ask for help here 🙂
Maybe one of you encountered similiar problems and push me into the right direction to solve this.

//update
After fiddeling around with various bios settings and an Arch Linux – Live test enviroment I figured out more.
After a few minutes the kernel throws an MCE exception:
mce: [Hardware Error]: CPU 2: Machine Check: 0 Bank 0:
Screen: https://imgur.com/GOf2i3a

But that error occures ONLY when I multi CPU (not hyperthreading) is enabled in BIOS. When I disable multi CPU in bios the system runs stable.
Unfortunately then only one CPU is available to the OS.

#StackBounty: #windows #windows-10 #crash #telemetry Why are Windows 10 crashes not getting reported to Microsoft?

Bounty: 100

I’ve been experiencing frequent Blue Screen of Death crashes on my Windows 10 PC, and the error message suggests the issue is the video driver. The exact nature of the problem isn’t important to my question, but I want to make sure Microsoft and their partners get as much data about the problem as possible so they can hopefully fix it. However, whenever I use Problem Report Viewer to check the diagnostic data for recent crashes, it always says that Windows errors have a status of "Not Reported".

Screenshot of Problem Report Viewer

The list of problems in the above screenshot is somewhat short, because I recently reinstalled Windows in an attempt to fix my problems. However, before the reinstall, I would often see several weeks worth of unexpected shutdown errors listed here, all with a status of "Not reported".

My question is, why are these reports not getting sent? Can I manually send this data to Microsoft or another hardware vendor somehow? Is there a setting in Windows that might be affecting this?

#StackBounty: #windows-10 #internet #crash #download #network-adapter My computer network interface is crashing while downloading

Bounty: 100

As title says my computer network interface is crashing while downloading.

I’m on Windows 10. My motherboard is asus p8h77-m pro.

I can use my computer and internet as normal, I never experienced this problem before, sometimes "micro crash" but once a month and seconds… but now I have a best connection, I had 10mbps and now 600mbps.

The moment I start a download, seconds after, my network crash, but it’s not my home internet because I can still use internet in other devices I tested that. Then if I wait some seconds the internet comes back, and eventually crash again.

I need help to try to fix this problem or try to see what’s going on but I don’t know where to start.

#StackBounty: #crash #launchpad #error-handling #apport How to make sure an error listed at https://errors.ubuntu.com/ gets a bug repor…

Bounty: 100

When some program crashes and an automatically generated error report is sent as discussed here What happens when I click "Send" after Ubuntu experienced an internal error? then the error report is added to the info shown at https://errors.ubuntu.com/ where the most frequent errors are shown at the top of the list.

The rightmost column in the list at https://errors.ubuntu.com/ is "Bug report" and for most of the common errors there is a bug report number there, and by clicking on that we can see the status and discussion regarding that bug report, which is great. But for some of the most common errors, the "Bug report" column is empty.

To me it seems like there should be a corresponding bug report for each error, especially for those errors that have hundreds or thousands of occurrences per day. Should I create a bug report in case the "Bug report" column is empty?

If I do that, how can I make sure my bug report is properly linked to the error reports on the https://errors.ubuntu.com/ page?

Edit: as an example, consider the error "seahorse (seahorse) glib-watch.c → 195 → timeout_update → Assertion `!t->dead” failed." that is currently listed at https://errors.ubuntu.com/ with Rank 9, with 225 occurrences during the past day. This particular error happens on my computer every few days, I usually choose to send an error report so I expect that my reports are then seen as additional occurrences of the error in that list. But there is no linked bug report, which makes me worry that developers of the seahorse package are still not aware of it. The same error has been occurring for more than a year, which also makes me think the developers are unaware of it, otherwise they would have done something about it by now. The question is then, what should be done to make sure there is a bug report what the developers become aware of? Note however that my question is mostly about how this is meant to work in general, this particular seahorse error is just an example, I’m interested in that case but even more interested in understanding how this works in general.

#StackBounty: #18.04 #software-installation #keyboard #skype #crash skypeforlinux crashes the keyboard

Bounty: 50

I recently installed Ubuntu 18.0.4 and after that skypeforlinux in several ways. I can use Skype to type messages, everything its OK, but when I make a call it crashes the keyboard. After that, I can’t do anything on the keyboard. I have to sign out or quit from Skype to get back to normal. I googled it and didn’t find anything similar. Is it just me?

my PC is Lenovo thinkpad L470 , I installed Ubuntu 18.0.4 and the latest version of Skype.

If anyone could help I would appreciate it a lot and if you want any other information about the environment let me know.

Thanks a lot
