#StackBounty: #networking #wireless-networking #vpn #port-forwarding #gaming Italics issue while trying to host/join a room in Gameranger

Bounty: 100

Okay so I use this software called Gameranger to play my game Age of Empires (conqueror’s expansion) and usually , there is this issue that happens. If your name appears in italic while you’re in a room which you’ve hosted or joined , you will basically be kicked off because an italic player is never able to actually enter a game and play it. The situation is something like this :

enter image description here

A thing to notice here is that although I’m the non-italic one (FateDontExist) , it’s the other way around for everyone else. As it’s a common gameranger issue , I’ve done a fair bit of googling and trying various “fixes” but nothing works.

I have been playing on Gameranger for over 3 months , and I have faced this problem in the past , but I was usually able to solve it using a VPN ( that’s the fix that no longer works)

A common fix on the internet is port forwarding your router , but I never used a router in the first place , I only use my mobile hotspot to connect to internet on my PC. I tried disabling , re-enabling the firewall , changing the DNS server manually , reset my network adapter , I even reset the PC . But nothing worked.I am still italic in all the room I join . I was able to become non italic by simply using a vpn client but it doesn’t help me anymore. I have no clue what to do anymore. I have ran out of ideas. Can someone help me come up with a fix ? And please understand that I can’t afford to get a new connection altogether or switch to wired internet.

Also , I tried this with two sim cards, i.e. 2 ISPs , and the same problem. I wanna add that this problem went away on both these ISPs on using a vpn client , but not anymore. What can be done ?

Also , if you need any more details , I’ll be happy to give them to you. Also this is my first question on here so apologies for any noob mistakes.Thank you.

EDIT : To the one downvoter , care mentioning why you downvoted ? All I’m trying is to fix my problem. If you needed more details you could’ve asked for it. Or if there’s anything wrong with the way I have posted this , just tell me before blatantly downvoting like that. I have already said I can improve the question or provide more details.

#StackBounty: #gaming #emulator #ps2 PCSX2 displays black screen

Bounty: 50

I have downloaded PCSX2 version 1.0.0 for Windows from the PCSX2 team’s official site, http://pcsx2.net/. I own a PS2 and I have installed PCSX2 with a bios. I want to play the PS2 game “DragonBall Z – Budokai 3”, but I am experiencing a black screen when I try to play it. My configurations are standard.

At startup pcsx2-r5350.exe creates a program log. It says:

I have used ImgBurn, http://www.imgburn.com/, to create an .iso file so I can play the game without the disc. When I use “Boot CDVD (full)” the screen goes black and the intro sound plays. “Boot CDVD (fast)” makes just the screen go black. The program log, “Boot CDVD (full)”, disc, says:

Since the problem can be the video, I have tried to change the renderer,

"Config" > "Video (GS)" > "Plugin Settings..." > "Renderer:",

from the default, Direct3D9 (Software), to all of the other options, but nothing helps.

Any help will be appreciated.

#StackBounty: #windows-10 #display #nvidia-graphics-card #gaming Windows 10 graphics kernel crashes randomly when playing games

Bounty: 100

I’ve been having a very odd hardware issue on my PC lately

  • Windows 10 (ver 1904)
  • 2014 vintage Intel i7 4790
  • 16GB RAM
  • "EVGA Nvidia GTX 980 FTW" graphics card
  • Gigabyte "H81M-DS2V" motherboard
  • Samsung 3440×1440 monitor @ 60 Hz via either HDMI or DisplayPort

I’ve been using this PC for casual gaming for over a year now, it plays Doom 2016 (for example) very stably and at high graphics settings. Recently I’ve been playing another game (Snowrunner) and every so often the monitor just goes completely black as if the video cable had been unplugged (cables are fine and secure). Replugging the HDMI cable does nothing (it does not even make the "device detected" noise that Windows usually makes) which leads me to believe that the GPU itself has gone into a failure state of some kind. The card simply goes idle as if it has fallen off the PCIe bus completely (I can’t prove that because frustratingly there’s no screen to look at).

However Windows does not crash and remains responsive (I can still play/pause media player which is usually running in the background using hotkeys on my keyboard). I can still use "[WIN+X], [U], [U]" to safely power off the PC. Oddly, power-cycling the PC does not automatically bring back the display unless I then consequently replug either the HDMI or DisplayPort cables.

I’ve gone through the process of removing the Nvidia drivers using the DDU tool and physically removing the graphics card, cleaning the PCIe contacts carefully with isopropyl alcohol and blowing any dust out of the cable sockets with an air duster). Then I reinstalled the Nvidia drivers to the latest version. The problem remains.

The Windows "View Reliability History" tool tends to report the following for a 187 code:

Description
A problem with your hardware caused Windows to stop working correctly.

Locale ID: 2057

The "Code" number changes each time, sometimes it’s 141 report…

The other problem is that this is intermittent. I can go all week without this error and then get 2 in the same day. It does not appear to happen more when the CPU/GPU is under heavy load (although Snowrunner is a very graphics intensive game) it can just as well happen when the system is cold and hardly spinning it’s fans. Then again Oblivion is not a graphically intense game and that causes it too.

Can anyone tell what might be causing this and what can be done to fix it?

EDIT: This problem also occurs when playing "TES4 Oblivion" with the same kind of error codes.

#StackBounty: #wireless-networking #performance #ping #gaming How to lower the ping on WIFI for better gameplay?

Bounty: 50

I suffer from very high ping in the game Fortnite that ranges from 80 to 100. Basically, I do have an ethernet cable, but It is inconvenient for me to connect it to my gaming laptop in my private room.

There is so much lag in the game that makes the experience awful. I want to know what steps can I follow to lower the ping for better experience.

What tweaks and adjustments do I have to make to lower the ping on WIFI?
