#StackBounty: #networking #wireless #kde #plasma-5 Wifi connection on a specific network is slow and shows strange messages

Bounty: 300

I’m on Kubuntu with Plasma 5.
Everything network related is working correcly, except with my own home WIFI. The ESSID is configured to autoconnect, but when I logon in my laptop, the connection manager hangs for a while trying to connect, and after 5 seconds it shows the message

” deactivated and No secrets were provided”

(sorry if the translation isn’t exact, my system is not English located).

Anyway, after this message, the connection goes up and I am correctly connected…

#StackBounty: #kubuntu #kde #plasma #plasma-5 Kubuntu w/ backports == KDE Neon (At least in terms of KDE version?)

Bounty: 50

I had a question for any of the KDE fans out there – I have been seeing a lot of interest stirring up lately with KDE Neon and I really liked the idea of always having the latest/greatest version of KDE desktop running. Although, if I would prefer to stay a little closer to home with one of the official *buntu distros, would Kubuntu with the backports ppa for KDE active give me the same constantly updated experience (in terms of Plasma desktop)? Would there be any disadvantages in going this route?

#StackBounty: #kde #18.04 #yakuake Yakuake settings not being applied in 18.04

Bounty: 50

Yakuake doesn’t apply settings from config on ubuntu 18.04, I looked around and found that there was a kde bug related to this so I also created a profile in .local/share/konsole and the settings are saved there but somehow yakuake doesn’t apply the settings defined there.

I tried configuring it to always show on screen 2, if I change it from the UI, it moves to screen 2 but if I press F12 to hide/show it again it goes back to screen 1, but somehow the setting still shows as screen 2.

I have same settings in 2 places .config/yakuakerc and .local/share/konsole/myprofile

#StackBounty: #gnome #kde How to give the same order for "OK" and "Cancel" buttons in KDE and GNOME applications?

Bounty: 50

I have installed some KDE and GNOME applications on the same computer. I use the applications at the same time. I find, I often hit the wrong button when I see “OK” or “Cancel” or “Yes” or “No” buttons, because the order is different. Is there any way to set these consistently, either changing to the KDE order or to the GNOME order?

#StackBounty: #keyboard #keyboard-layout #kde #input-languages #qt Cedilla with ' and c (dead key) for QT apps

Bounty: 150

As a Brazilian, I want my american keyboard to use dead keys and to map cedilla (ç) to ‘ + c. The default mapping gives me ć. For GTK-based applications, this setup can be easily achieved by setting the following environment variable:

GTK_IM_MODULES=cedilla

However, for Qt-based applications (like KWrite), the same method doesn’t work:

QT_IM_MODULES=cedilla #doesn't work!

The Qt applications will continue to print ć. How do I debug and fix this?

Note: please, do not suggest the approach given here. Typing AltGr + c feels very alien to a Brazilian and the GTK solution works just fine.

#StackBounty: #kubuntu #kde #qt #qt5 #krunner Search fields respond slowly to input on Plasma KDE desktop

Bounty: 50

I’m on a upgraded version of Kubuntu, from 16.04 to 17.04 and then to 17.10.

When trying to type something in krunner or in a search field of the application menu – the letters just don’t appear as typed.

Sometimes letters appear after having typed them several times.
But neither Konsole or Browser, or even text editors are affected, only search fields in krunner and the application menu.

Update: After some time (and several updates) more input fields started to misbehave:

  • password entry field in network manager
  • search in application launcher
